Kicking off my Etsy shop with a GIVEAWAY!!

As some of you may know, I have recently taken up crochet and knitting.
After posting many of my finished projects on my Facebook and blog, I had a lot of people telling me I should open an Etsy shop and sell them.
The seed had been planted and after thinking on it for a few months, I am excited to say I finally opened my own little shop!!

I currently only have little crochet creatures for sale at the moment but once I get settled I plan on having some knit and crochet clothing accessory items (gloves, hats, etc.) as well as baby toys/clothing.

Currently I am working on an array of iPod/iPhone cozies which I am pretty excited about.

So without further ado, I'd like to announce my very first

.... to celebrate the grand reveal of  my Etsy shop!!!

Well, technically it has been open for a couple weeks now BUT I have been trying to fill it up with goodies.
No one wants to look at a shop with only 2 items for sale!

So how is this going to work?
I am giving away any one item, of the winner's choice, that is listed in my shop!

Here are a few of the items available in my shop:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
(Only giving away an individual Ninja Turtle, not the set!)
Little Dragon
Mommy and Baby owl pair
Apple and his friendly worm

(See shop for more pictures and other items for sale!)
I hope you like what you see :]

To enter you can do the following:
Leave 1 comment for each entry.
1. Go look at my shop and tell me which is your favorite item and which one you'd like if you were to win!

2. Tweet about this giveaway. Copy and paste the following into your twitter and leave a comment with the link to count as an entry:
Enter to win a crochet creation from @cdugan88 's new Etsy shop at

**[This can be done daily for extra entries - Just post a new comment every day with the new tweet link]**

3. Follow my blog or tell me you're already doing so!

So there you have it, 3 possible entry options that will only take a couple minutes!
I'm not a big fan of making people do 20 thousand things and jump through hoops to enter a giveaway because, lets be honest, all you want to do is win and all I want is for people to take a look at my shop and spread the word!

This giveaway will close at 11:59 pm on Friday, September 3th and announced by Monday.

Good luck to you all :]

**I decided to keep the twitter option available as a daily entry just to keep things interesting and to give people who would really like to win an extra opportunity to do so.

day 28 and 29 of 30 day challenge

Day 28 - Someone that changed your life
Not to sound like a lame-ass but the manfriend literally changed my life in so many ways and I am very happy :]

Day 29 - The person that you want to tell everything to, but are too afraid to
To be honest, I don't feel like I have any deep dark secrets that I can't tell people. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm an open book but I just don't have anything that important going on and even if I did, I don't have someone I'm AFRAID to tell..
So I'm sorry, I've got nothing.

Now that thats out of the way, I swear my giveaway is coming in the next few days!

I've been kinda of stuck in this little circle of going nowhere:

I want to add more to my etsy shop before I link it here

I need to crochet more things before I can add more to the shop

I need to go to the store (which is like 40 minutes away) and get more supplies to make some of the things I want to add
Mockingjay just came out and I had a whole day of nothing but reading

The solution is I need to finish the last few pages of Mockingjay, crochet something that I HAVE the materials for, post that in the shop, just do the giveaway already, then go to the store this weekend and finish the items I don't have everything for.
Which means leaving something out of the giveaway until the giveaway is already in underway but I guess thats ok.

SO I am going to go start on that plan.
The giveaway will happen sometime in the next 3 days, mark my words!

day 24-27 of 30 day challenge

Seriously, I have been busy.

Don't look at me like that!

Day 24 - The person that gave you your favorite memory
I love my family and I have so many great childhood memories.

Day 25 - The person you know that is going through the worst of times
I guess I would have to say my my mom because she is dealing with some legal stuff from the past.

Day 26 - The last person you made a pinky promise to
I'm going to guess my sister in law.
(I was trying to teach her how to knit)

Day 27 - The friendliest person you knew for only one day
I can't even begin to think of the last person I only met one time  that was super friendly so I am going to cheat and say the girls on our San Francisco blogger girls trip!
(Lauren, Ashton, and Vanessa)

In other news,
Stay tuned for my first giveaway!
I'm going to post it as early as tonight!

day 17-23 of 30 day challenge... aka blog fail

I'd have to say this was a 30 day challenge fail if there ever was one.
I have been pretty busy lately with life AND with making my Etsy shop.
Thats right, I have an Etsy shop now and I have been crocheting like a crazy person to try and fill it up!
I'll be posting about it soon and linking to it... and possibly a giveaway? hmmmmmmm?

Day 18 - The person that you wish you could be
Is there really any point to this? Embrace yourself, good and bad.
This is who I am.

Day 19 - Someone that pesters your mind—good or bad

Day 20 - The one that broke your heart the hardest
This fucktard. My first boyfriend when I was 14. I swear he used to be cuter in high school.
I'll try to find a picture of us back in the day... I might have burned them all though.
He was the biggest failure of my life.

Day 21 — Someone you judged by their first impression
I'm not going to lie, I judge everyone by first impressions. How can you not?
That doesn't mean I don't change my mind later.

Day 22 - Someone you want to give a second chance to
Remember her?
Preferably not in those boots though....

Day 23 - The last person you kissed
My love muffin.
(sorry Alex)

Day 17 - Someone from your childhood
Jessica. We grew up a few houses apart and we used to play as kids.

day 15 and 16 of 30 day challenge

And again I am making up for missed days...

Day 15 - The person you miss the most
On a regular daily basis I'd say my mom.
I live 3 hours away and see them once every couple months, sometimes once a month.

Day 16 - Someone that’s not in your state
My cousin Anthony and Angela. They are in Long Island, New York!

product review: scentsy

More like product rave!

It's true!

Last week I received my Scentsy order and I couldn't have been more pleased.
For all of those who don't know, Scentsy is basically a flameless candle that lasts forever!
The light bulb inside heats up the wax and melts it which releases the scent.

Once you are done with a particular scent, you just turn on your warmer, melt the wax completely, and then pour it back into the wax tray container which looks kind of like a little ice cube tray.

Welcome to Christina's Scentsy tutorial:

1. Get your Scentsy warmer out of the box and plug it in. Also make sure the top isn't on crooked like mine...

2. Choose which aroma you would like... Sugar? Sweet pea & vanilla? Vanilla cream perhaps?

3. Put a couple wax cubes on top. Amount depends on how strong you want the scent to be.
It IS strong so I wouldn't advise putting the whole tray of wax in at least until you decide how potent you'd like it.

4. Watch said wax melt as your home starts smelling tast-ay!

5. And melting....

6. When you feel your home is sufficiently smelly (in a good way, of course), just flip the switch on the warmer cord and turn the warmer off.

Easy as pie!

Its so nice that we won't have to keep buying candles and be careful to only let them burn for a couple hours at a time.
No more worrying about burning your house down either!
The wax will last forever and you can change it out any time you need a little variety in your life.

We chose the Satin Black full-size warmer which has a matte finish but there are a ton of really cute ones including medium-sized and wall plug warmers.

day 12, 13 and 14 of 30 day challenge

I've had a couple busy days so here I am playing catch-up!

Day 12 - The person who caused you a lot of pain

She did some things that friends should not do.
We're finally talking again after like 4 years.

Day 13 - Someone you wish could forgive you

In all honesty I don't have someone that I have wronged so bad that they didn't forgive me. Here is a picture of my beautiful mother for enduring my terrible teen years.

Day 14 - Someone you’ve drifted away from
My friend Courtney.

day 11 of 30 day challenge

Day 11 - A Deceased person you wish you could talk to
My grandma and grandpa on my mom's side.
I miss them so much.

day 10 of 30 day challenge

Day 10 - Someone you don't talk to as much as you'd like to
My cousin Angela. She lives in NY and I used to go out there every summer with my mom until high school and then I visited her at her dorm in Connecticut my Freshman and Sophomore year. I haven't seen her for like... 6 or 7 years? Holy crap its been a while....

(picture is us as kids)

day 9 of 30 day challenge

Day 9 - Someone you wish you could meet
Myself from the future so, if I end up in a place I never wanted to be, I could make different choices with my life and send myself down a new path.

day 8 of 30 day challenge

Day 8 - Your favorite internet friend
Mateo. I've known him since high school.
This is the only picture I could find in a timely manner... I assume it was prom back in the day or something.

day 7 of 30 day challenge

Day 7 - Your Ex-boyfriend
There he be. He was pretty annoying.

day 5 and 6 of 30 day challenge... and other stuff!

"Near Miss"

Happy August!
and Weeds. :]

My parents were in town yesterday so I failed on my day 5 post so I am doubling up today!
along with a little look-see of what I have been knitting/crocheting.
Thats right, I crochet now.
I am full on grandma-fied!

Day 5 - Your Dreams
My dream is to have and raise disciplined, smart, respectful, loving, functioning children and, above all, to have a strong loving LASTING marriage until the day I die.

Day 6 - A Stranger
This guy is a complete stranger.
Not really sure where I was supposed to take this day's picture...

In other news....
In case you people didn't get the memo, I started to crochet about 2 weeks ago.

I only started crocheting to make amigurumi (crocheted little creatures) because it seems to form them better than knitting in a lot of instances.
I had a rocky start but I have finally gotten the hang of it!

Here is what I have been making as of late:
Lamb... I love how this turned out, I am so happy with it!
*lamb pattern found here*

A cupcake that I am sure you have seen on Alex's bog.
She named him sprinkle :]

Mommy owl and Cafe con leche cup.

*Grenade pattern found here*

Sugar bunny
Its a little lopsided the way I put it together but still kinda cute I suppose.
*Sugar bunny pattern can be found here along with some other really cute free knitting patterns*

and now my pride and joy as of yet...
Donatello! I plan on making the other teenage mutant ninja turtles as well :D
I decided last minute to add the belt on him.
*TMNT pattern can be found here*

This apple I just did yesterday but I can't finish it yet until I get some smaller eyes to put on the worm that is supposed to be sticking out the side.
I accidentally threw out the eyes I had :[

OH and I am kind of excited about this purchase yesterday for SIX DOLLARS!?
God bless this small town.
They could sell this down in the Bay area for like $30+ dollars and people would buy it.
